HWKN redesigns iconic Art Deco landmarks with modern construction techniques.Architecture firm Hollwich Kushner (HWKN) has just released a design research project that applies contemporary construction techniques and designs to famous NYC Art Deco landmarks.

The buildings imagined as part of the project include 1 Wall Street, which The Landmarks Preservation Commission calls one of New York Citys most extraordinary Art Deco masterpieces, the Eldorado, and 214 West 29th Street.

I am familiar with Art Deco; as a born and bred New Yorker I have spent many a fine afternoon or evening enjoying the magnificence of Radio City Music Hall with as much relish as the planned shows themselves.
